BGI Time/Gravity Product Filler
We construct these new
fillers with the ability to be retro-fitted to an existing aerosol filling line:
BGI, Terco, JG, Pamasol or any maufacturer’s line that uses a 3 ˝”
center-to-center distance between the cans.
Consequently this filler can be placed on an existing
ind
exing table to either replace or support existing
product fillers that may be installed.
If you are filling free
flowing or foamy products, consider this type of filler
 |
 |
| The all-new BGI Time-Gravity
Product Filler (TGF) is an
accurate, simple, easy to clean bowl type filler.
It uses the “Time/Gravity Filling” concept to fill each can.
The filler is
located on the top surface of the indexing tabletop, and is secured with
bolts through the tabletop.
All sensors are intrinsically safe and
appropriate for use in environments with either
fla
mmable solvents or propellants. |
Time/Gravity
Filling uses a bowl filled with
product, held at a consistent fluid level.
Nozzles connected to the bottom of this bowl open for a precise
time duration, allowing the product to flow out of the bowl with the force
of gravity.
With modern PLC controls, the nozzles
can be opened and closed with a easily controlled, repeatable time
interval. The result is a very accurate, consistent means of filling
products. |
 |
 |
| A Programmable Logic
Controller (PLC) operates the product filler.
The PLC controls the nozzle opening time event with high accuracy.
The nozzles themselves are opened and closed by compressed air,
providing positive control of
the product. |
The
PLC has a screen that can accept a menu of product filling choices, making
subsequent selections of product fills as easy as a quick selection from a
menu. Once the correct
product dose is selected by the operator in the set-up mode, each
successive production-run of that product can be recalled on the control
system. Of course, fine
“tuning” is available to make any small corrections in dose that may
need to be made while running production on the line. |

|
| Change in can heights is
accomplished without tools. Releasing
four locking levers allows the bowl and nozzles to be moved as an
assembly. A hand crank
then moves the bowl with all four nozzles either up or down to suit the
height of the can being filled. |
This filler was designed from
the outset to be easy to clean-out when the product is changed.
The outlets that connect to the nozzles are all located in a low
sump of the bowl. All of the
product or cleaning solvents can be drained from the bowl quickly and
easily. The four filling
nozzles are removeable from the bowl without tools.
Each nozzle is connected to the bowl with a quick-disconnect
sanitary clamp and a Teflon sealing gasket.
For simple product changes that require a solvent flush only, it is
possible to make the change without disassembly.
In this case, the bowl is rinsed with solvent, and each of the
nozzles are cycle to purge them of old product.
For a more
thorough clean-out, disassembly
is needed. The four nozzles
can be removed from the bowl-without any tools-in less than a minute.
The nozzles can then be disassembled and cleaned as needed. |
